The Parking Lot Moment
Before everyone drives away, take a moment together—if everyone wants to. Choose an object to represent whose turn it is to speak.
- Offer a turn. Anyone can pass.
- The person holding the object can say how they feel.
- Listen without correcting, defending, shushing, or demanding forgiveness.
- Ask whether they want a response or simply to be heard.
- Before driving, take the time you need to settle and check the trip home.
Participation is voluntary. No one has to explain why they pass.
