This page explains the resource-search, saved-link, draft, and contact tools. It does not yet cover every account or community feature on HAB.

Saved resources and drafts

Saved resource links stay in this browser’s local storage. Tools labeled Download save a draft on your device. The Contact page is different: Send message emails your reply address and message to HAB at j.carroll@habjustice.com. The contact form does not create a public post or save your message in the site database; a copy is delivered to the HAB mailbox.

People using the same browser profile may be able to see saved links. Clear them from Saved Resources when needed.

Search and page requests

Search terms are sent to the site to retrieve matching public resource records. WordPress and hosting services may process requests and cookies separately.

Keep sensitive information out of drafts

Do not put case numbers, medical details, private addresses or identification documents into feedback or board drafts.

Accounts and community posts

Some HAB features already allow accounts and public posts. Read the notice on the feature you’re using before sharing anything. The parole-preparation retention and deletion details are below. Other account and community deletion questions can be sent to HAB. Posts in the adult community appear without review before publication.

Parole preparation: saving, retention and deletion

Signed-in preparation stores your answers, notes, hearing date, checklist progress, Board Packet submission text, and practice/support notes in your account. These entries are not public posts. Site administration and account access still apply; private does not mean legally privileged. Optional name and CDOC header fields are held only in page memory for downloads and are not saved by those fields. Identifiers manually typed into other saved text may still be saved.

The active site has no automatic expiry for saved preparation. It remains until you delete it or the account is otherwise removed. Signed-out preparation uses this tab’s session storage; browser restore features may restore a tab. Guest Document Vault files use persistent browser storage and can remain after closing the tab.

The “Delete my parole prep data” button removes saved preparation and HAB-generated parole-prep notebook/practice documents from the active account, including matching copies in the workspace migration backup. It clears this tab’s preparation. It does not remove unrelated vault uploads, public posts, downloaded files, or copies on other devices. Remove those separately. Older open tabs must reload after deletion before saving again.

Hosting backups may retain earlier copies after active-site deletion. The backup retention period has not been verified; HAB does not promise immediate removal from every backup. Contact HAB about backup or account-deletion questions.

How HAB handles information

Last updated: October 24, 2026.

HAB Justice (Hell and Back) is run by founder Jessica Carroll. Contact j.carroll@habjustice.com about privacy, corrections, or your information.

Contact messages

The contact form emails your message and the contact details you supply to HAB. HAB uses them to read and respond to your request. Messages may remain in HAB’s mailbox and its email provider’s systems. Do not send passwords, identity documents, private case files, or other sensitive information through this form. The form also uses temporary rate limits to reduce spam; hosting and email services may keep technical logs.

Community and RideShare

Community posts, public replies, “What I wish…” entries, and RideShare listings are public. Anything you include in a public listing, including an email address, can be seen and copied by others. Use the private reply option to arrange details, and avoid posting home addresses, children’s information, DOC numbers, or private case details. RideShare listings are not verified rides or a guarantee of safety. Private replies are visible to their participants and HAB administrators. They are not public, but are not confidential from HAB administrators.

Visits and cookies

The first-party hab_visit cookie identifies a browsing session and expires after 30 minutes of inactivity. HAB’s traffic counter stores a session identifier derived from that cookie, the date, page or resource path, event type, and counts of page visits, reader opens, and download-link clicks. This counter does not record helper answers. Account sign-in and browser-saved work use separate storage described in the existing notices and on the tools.

Helper drafts and Quick Exit

Guest helper answers save automatically in this browser. Signed-in answers save automatically to your HAB account. Downloaded files and vault documents are separate copies.

Erase my answers on this device clears that helper’s local draft. Quick Exit clears local HAB drafts and replaces the current page with Google. Neither action deletes account copies, vault documents, downloaded files or earlier browsing history.
