HAB RideShare

“I need a ride” meets “I’m going that way and may be able to help.”

Talk first. Either person can say no.

Before you get in a stranger’s car—or let a stranger into yours—talk first. A conversation does not obligate you to take the ride.

  • Confirm the route, timing, return plan, and expectations.
  • Meet in a public place when practical.
  • Tell someone you trust where you are going.
  • Both driver and rider can consider sharing live location with someone they trust using their own phone service. HAB does not track you.
  • Decline or cancel if you are uncomfortable. Avoid unnecessary sensitive details.

Have somebody at home know where you are.

Choose a person you trust and agree how you will check in. Location-sharing tools vary by phone; use the instructions for your own device.

Have a backup plan.

A visit or pickup can change. Entry may be denied, a visit may be canceled or cut short, release timing can change, and the driver may not be able to wait. Check current official facility instructions before leaving.

  • How will I get home if our plan changes?
  • Who can I contact?
  • Is another transportation option actually available?

HAB cannot promise a backup service exists. Use the HAB Resource Finder and the facility’s current official instructions to confirm arrangements.

What HAB does

HAB provides a place to connect. It does not dispatch rides, vet drivers or riders, verify insurance or vehicles, or guarantee safety. There are no fares, booking fees, payments, or location tracking on HAB.

Help from HAB is free. Always.

No fees, paid memberships, purchases, or payment pages. You do not need a single penny to get help from HAB.

When a feature needs information, we ask only for the minimum needed to make that feature work. Our approach is to collect and retain only what the feature needs—not to build a detailed profile of you or your child. Hosting and security services may retain technical logs, such as IP addresses.
