Tell a fuller story without promising an outcome

I already know this — skip it

What is it?

A fuller reentry story can describe a present task, its context, and what remains uncertain without making a person a symbol of success or failure.

Why would I need this?

Practice reporting practical life alongside justice-system history.

Show me.

  1. Identify the current issue rather than relying only on the past offense.
  2. Check the practical context, such as program access or confirmed work.
  3. Include relevant voices with clear attribution.
  4. Avoid predicting a person’s future from one event or one interview.

Try it.

Rewrite an invented headline that calls a person a guaranteed success after one class. State the actual completed class and the next step instead.

Watch out for this.

Respect people affected by crime as well as the returning person; do not imply that participation settles anyone else’s experience.

Explain this another way

Focus on one small task: tell a fuller story without promising an outcome. You can practice aloud, on paper, or with someone you trust.

Show me an example

HAB practice example: The story reports completion of a specific course and a pending job search without claiming the future is assured.
