Follow up when you are still waiting

I already know this — skip it

What is it?

A follow-up message refers to an earlier request and asks about the next step.

Why would I need this?

Practice a clear follow-up and a backup inquiry without assuming a delay means rejection.

Show me.

  1. Check the follow-up instructions you were given.
  2. State the earlier request briefly.
  3. Ask whether anything else is needed and when to check again.
  4. If the need remains uncovered, investigate another option while keeping statuses accurate.

Try it.

Practice a message about an invented request sent last week. Use a made-up date, not personal identifiers.

Watch out for this.

Follow-up does not guarantee service. Keep urgent needs separate and seek an appropriate immediate contact if necessary.

Explain this another way

Focus on one small task: follow up when you are still waiting. You can practice aloud, on paper, or with someone you trust.
