Agree on privacy and shared space

I already know this — skip it

What is it?

A privacy agreement describes everyday boundaries such as personal belongings, quiet space, and asking before entering a room.

Why would I need this?

Practice making room for closeness and independence in the same home.

Show me.

  1. Ask what space and belongings each adult considers private.
  2. Agree on how to ask before borrowing, entering, or inviting guests.
  3. Discuss a practical way to request time alone.
  4. Check that the arrangement fits any actual housing or contact restrictions.

Try it.

Practice a sentence asking for thirty minutes alone after work without blaming the other person.

Watch out for this.

Returning home does not automatically give anyone permission to inspect another person’s phone, accounts, or private belongings.

Explain this another way

Focus on one small task: agree on privacy and shared space. You can practice aloud, on paper, or with someone you trust.
