Ask for clear work instructions

I already know this — skip it

What is it?

A task check is a short conversation about what to do, when it is needed, and who to ask if something is unclear.

Why would I need this?

Use this exercise when a new task feels too vague.

Show me.

  1. Name the task you heard.
  2. Ask what a finished result should look like.
  3. Confirm the priority and due time.
  4. Repeat your understanding and identify who can answer questions.

Try it.

Practice asking about “Get this area ready.” Choose one question about the result and one about timing.

Watch out for this.

Ask for the required training before unfamiliar equipment or tasks. This practice does not authorize you to perform them.

Explain this another way

Focus on one small task: ask for clear work instructions. You can practice aloud, on paper, or with someone you trust.

Show me an example

HAB practice example: Alex says: “Do you mean arrange the empty boxes on these shelves? Which shelves should I finish first?”

What does that word mean?Open the full glossary

You did it.

You have practiced a useful next step. Repeat it if you want, or continue at your own pace.
